Recent Support:

A tremendous thank you is owed to Dr. Dan Roby (OSU Department of Fisheries and Wildlife), Kevin Buch (OSU Research Office), Itchung Cheung (HMSC Education Coordinator), and Captain Paul Tate (HMSC volunteer). Through their generosity and efforts the Marine Team Whaler will be back in operation starting 2017! In the past this vessel has supported graduate student projects in Yaquina and Coos Bays, SCUBA diving operations, subtidal monitoring of biodiversity, Marine Mammal tagging operations, water quality sampling, and more. The Marine Team thanks all who contributed to getting our boat up and running again!

Partnering with the Marine Team:

The Marine Team harnesses the enthusiasm of a broadly talented group of OSU students eager to gain experiences needed for their future careers. Together we can accomplish research goals, educate the next generation, and collaborate across disciplines. If you are interested in partnering with the marine team, please contact Scarlett.Arbuckle@oregonstate.edu for more information.  You can donate directly at this link under “Marine Team”.

The Marine Team currently operates through the generosity of donors including the Heppell Lab, the Department of Fisheries and Wildlife, College of Agricultural Sciences, Oregon State University, the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, the Cooperative Institute for Marine Resource Studies, the Marine Mammal Institute, and the Hatfield Marine Science Center.

Although we pursue internal and external funding opportunities, the Marine Team currently has a limited operating budget used to purchase permits and supplies. We cannot support labor, transportation, or maintenance. If you are interested in sponsoring a project or student internship, please contact Scarlett.Arbuckle@oregonstate.edu. You can donate directly at this link.
